HCF Foundation x Steve Madden Design Challenge
HCF Foundation partnered with Steve Madden to launch this program to celebrate the work of our local designers and provide them access to mentorship, industry knowledge and career pathways in fashion. The winner of the challenge, DaQuane Cherry, received a $10,000 cash prize as well as a paid 3-month Fellowship with Steve Madden, Ltd.
Black Independence Awards
The 2022 inaugural Black Independence Awards was hosted over the Juneteenth weekend to honor the community leaders, artists, and entrepreneurs that have been tirelessly driving the growth and development of Harlem. Honorees included TV personality, author, and actress Bevy Smith (The Vanguard Award), legendary fashion designer Dapper Dan (The Icon Award), World’s Greatest Entertainer, rapper and producer Doug E. Fresh and renowned restaurateur and founder of Melba’s Restaurant Melba Wilson (The Champion Award).
